Does anyone know how to solve the Windows Vista compatibility issue for Star Wars Republic Commando?

When clicking "Start Game" from the launcher, an error reads:
___________________________________________________
Runtime Error!

Program: ...Republic
Commando\GameData\System\SWRepublicCommando.exe

abnormal program termination
___________________________________________________

I've tried running the .exe in compatibility mode for Windows XP and I've found that the demo runs normally.

Yeah i read alot of that also ..

I would suggest maybe contact the manf. of the game to find out if they are aware of the issues and maybe they can give you the time frame on when they will be patched.

That option will probably work best .. personally i think that should be a auto option coded into vista .. auto-dual boot .. would solve so many issues for people ( if you are using a upgrade disk )

Is this the original game that was released or the one from the Best of PC set?

I would really like to know this info because I have gotten this game to run one time on Vista Ultimate. I have a QX6700 processor, 4gb RAM, 8800 GTX card and Soundbaster X-Fi Xtremegamer. I have tried running as administrator and XPSP2 compatibility enabled. Any help to get this game going would be great because I love to play this game.

I have a similar problem with this..

While I can run the REPUBLIC COMMANDO game, I cannot run the Unreal Editor that comes with it..

I have narrowed the problem down to my 8800 GTS Video Card, rather than Windows Vista being the culprit..

I can run the game AND UED fine on my ASUS P4PE running a Radeon Pro 9700 card and VISTA Ultimate.

If anyone has any idea how I can get RepCom UED to work with an 8800 GTS Video Card, I would be greatly appreciative..

I have a proper Direct X WDM Nvidia GeForce Go 7200 graphics card but when I press Start Game, nothing happens... :(

And I also have 2GB of ram and 120GB HDD.

Do most of you guys have Dell, 'cos looking around i find it's mostly dell computers which have this problem? I have windows XP and it says just the same thing, so it's not just a Vista problem :P

The Solution to Republic commando on Vista

I've tried running the .exe in compatibility mode for Windows XP and I've found that the demo runs normally.

The Solution

1) go to the drive you installed it to.
2) go to C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System
3) then right click on SWRepublicCommando
4)run as administrator
5) play

after doing this there is only one problem I am having saving the files. I think there might be some other way to open the game with it saving but I will continure to try and figure it out.

It might be an issue with the game not being up-to-date. Try installing the latest patches and such. It might even be a driver issue if it occurs with your other games.
