I also have Star War Republic Comando, but can't get it to work. I can run the game, star it, create an profile, then I click "New game" and it starts to load, then when it finnish to load everything shuts down. No error message or nothing.

EDIT:

YAY! I got it to work! :D

Just put the "Bumpmapping Quality" in options>Graphics to LOW.
I am 90% sure that it will work.

I can confirm that this solution worked for me. I did it without running the EXE in compatibility mode or as administrator.

If it helps, I'm running vista ultimate with crossfired Radeon HD 4850 vide cards and 8gb RAM

Runs fine on Windows 7 once you have updated it.

I desperately hope EVERYTHING runs fine in Windows 7. I'm tired of all the crap Vista has given me...

On a side note, somebody mentioned the game running fine in Vista with a crack. Some part of the CD checking portion of several games doesn't play nice with Vista; I don't understand all the technical reasons for this, only that it has happened to me two or three times with different games. If you are having issues starting a game and the usual fixes don't work (like compatibility mode and running as administrator), sometimes all you need is a no-cd crack. These are perfectly legal, so long as you actually own the game. Be sure to back up any modified files in case it doesn't fix your problem... and be careful about which crack you use. Just because no-cd cracks are legal doesn't mean they don't sometimes come with viruses...

The Solution to Republic commando on Vista

View Postcde, on Mar 24 2007, 10:08 PM, said:

Does anyone know how to solve the Windows Vista compatibility issue for Star Wars Republic Commando?

When clicking "Start Game" from the launcher, an error reads:
___________________________________________________
Runtime Error!

Program: ...Republic
Commando\GameData\System\SWRepublicCommando.exe

abnormal program termination
___________________________________________________

I've tried running the .exe in compatibility mode for Windows XP and I've found that the demo runs normally.

The Solution

1) go to the drive you installed it to.
2) go to C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System
3) then right click on SWRepublicCommando
4)run as administrator
5) play

after doing this there is only one problem I am having saving the files. I think there might be some other way to open the game with it saving but I will continure to try and figure it out.
