This is so aggravating. I cannot get permission to delete these 4 files from system32 folder.

I did the whole take own nonsense as explained in take own download...

TakeOwn.reg adds a Take Ownership Context Menu Item to all files and folders.
It opens an Elevated Command Prompt which recovers full access to the selected file /
directory, sub directories and their content.
You can access the Context Menu Item by holding down Shift + right-click on a file or folder.
If you want to access the Take Ownership Context Menu Item on an exe file, you must merge
"RunAsAdmin_Exe-.reg"; this reg file removes the "Run as Administrator" Context Menu Item
from all exe files (they both use the runas key).
Merge "RunAsAdmin_Exe+.reg" if you want to restore the "Run as Administrator" Context Menu Item.

Install: Merge TakeOwn+.reg
Uninstall Merge TakeOwn-.reg

Merge? HOW? I did the shift + right click and selected take ownership on the 4 files for system32. I still cannot delete them NOR replace them with the other 4 included in the Plex RC3 download.

I already double clicked the takeown+ reg file and allowed it to register and same for the RunAsAdmin_Exe+ file.

just for anyone using Leopard 0.5 WIP,

windows doesn't seem to like the '0.5'

if it's not working, try taking the '0.5' out.

took me an age to figure it out.

and could anyone enlighten me as to why in my Appearance Settings, all the themes I download are either called 'Aero' or 'Windows Vista Basic'?

means I have to go through and apply each one just to tell what theme it is....

It isn't that good so don't worry, It was laggy on my machine and was just a black box.

Guys, i need a lil help over here...

I did every single step it its works perfectly till now " blue eyes theme " but...

As you said :

C:Windows/Branding/Basebrd/BASEBRD.dll

C:Windows/System32/AUTHUI.dll

C:Windows/System32/BROWSEUI.dll

C:Windows/System32/IEFRAME.dll

C:Windows/System32/IMAGERES.dll

C:Windows/System32/OOBEFLDR.dll

Backup your above files by renaming them *.old (or whatever)
sometimes u cant just overight a file, u have to rename the old one first.

and my problem is that i can't rename those files.. just can't do anything ... So.. how the hell can i rename them to whatever to add the edited files?!?!

Please help me :/

i take it you have applied the uxtheme patch as mentioned on page 1 of this post ?
and i agree with dazzy about the 3d user pic application ....not the best , even when it works :no:

Hey, I love the fresh aero theme. It's my favourite of all the glass type themes. Does anyone recommend any other good ones that aren't on this list or any other good sites?
Also, I can only install the themes with the .theme file. I don't know how to add the themes with the visual studio file thing, If anyone could give me a pointer.

I've downloaded a couple of Vista themes from DeviantART, i'm curious to know on how i can accomplish a CLEAR effect on the STARTUP BAR & TASKBAR ?!

Can somebody advise ?

Somebody pls. HELP !

Followed Step by Step instruction to install MaxClear V3 theme for Vista, but no success !!

The Side Bar also did not install, in fact, the default Vista bar has also failed to install !!

This is what i did:
1. Downloaded recommended PATCHES from Source.
2. THE & SHS DLL files were missing from SYSTEM32 directories, so copied from DOWNLOAD to SYSTEM32 directory
3. 'Took Ownership' of ALL 3 DLL files
4. Renamed 'DLL' extension to 'OLD'
5. Copied PATCH files (DLL) from DOWNLOAD to SYSTEM32
6. REBOOT laptop
7. Intalled THEME but DID NOT get CLEAR effect on Toolbar & STARTUP !!
8. Installed SIDE BAR but did not activate even though INSTALLATION was successful.
