Windows Vista Service Pack 1 hasn't been officially released yet so you won't have it installed, however it is in beta and a select 15,000 people all over the world have had the chance to install it to test it out before the official release.

VistaGlazz will work with home premium, business and ultimate.

Hi Lee,

Can you PLEASE help me install VistaGlazz & guide me where i may have gone wrong ?

I've followed all the steps diligently but no success !! Here are the steps:

1. Downloaded themeui.dll, shsvcs.dll & uxtheme.dll from www.down-dll.com/ & copied to System32 folder

2. 'Took ownership' of ALL the files. (see attachment for instructions that i followed)

3. Gave myself Full Control permissions.

4. Renamed uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old ; themeui.dll to themeui.old & shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.

5. Copy patched files into %systemroot%\System32

6. Rebooted laptop.

7. Applied theme - VistaGlass Final by ~Butch123

Result: Black Desktop screen with NON CLEAR Startup Menu & Toolbar !!

The closest i'm getting to a 'successful' glass theme is Joulu - it's picked up the wallpaper, the toolbar is almost glass-like but no glass like effect on Startup Menu !

I've also just downloaded VistaGlazz.exe & LogonStudio Vista from links on http://butch123.devi...-Final-60349566

Pls. advise - Mave

Vistaglazz patches the files for you so you don't have to. Download vistaglazz, install it and then patch the files from the program. It will automatically do it, once each Icon on the program has a green tick, that means your files are patched and then you will be able to use a custom theme.

Thanks !!

Is it as easy as that using VistaGlazz ?

Have you got a source from where i can download themeui.dll, shsvcs.dll & uxtheme.dll ? (Or do i need another set of DLL files ?)

The files from www.down-dll.com/ turned out to be a dodgy !

I tried patching these files using VistaGlazz, & is it turned out, gave me a warning that files were corrupt but still I still continued to patch (silly me!), & Vista would'nt reboot - had to do system restore...

One more thing, which THEME is guaranteed to work once i use VistaGlazz to patch files ?

I've downloaded yet another set of DLL files from another source& they too are corrupt !

The warning that i'm getting : one or more of VistaGlazz essential files are corrupt..

Mave

Thanks heaps !!

What exactly do you mean by SELF INSTALLING ?

Do i still need to apply VistaGlazz to the patches ? If so, where are DLL files for this THEME ? Are they included as part of DOWNLOAD link ?
