Just updated the gadget to 2.3

Not a huge difference, just changed the links at the bottom. They include a link to the Control Panel, the Wiki and the Podcast.

Just got the gadget. Great stuff there. Now I don't have to go back and forth and refresh all the time to see if there are any new posts! And the themes are great as well!

I just noticed that every minute it says that it refreshed that minute, but it hasn't refreshed once yet. Is this still being worked on?

The gadget only displays new threads, not new posts within existing threads...

IC. I just thought that it would show most recent posts. Seems to me that would be a more convenient feature. This way people who are posting in a hot thread can keep up to date more easily. Seems to make even more sense to me since it shows the 15 most recent.

I really don't mean to be critical. Just my observation.

It can't show individual posts but it will shove a topic to the front again if it keeps getting posts, the gadget reads the RSS output from the forum so I can't make it read anymore than the forum outputs.

Now to the news.....

Version 3.1

I've tidied up the gadget layout so it won't take up so much real estate on your desktop, moved the links to the settings page and spruced up the themes. With a nod to SFKilla for inspiration on the settings page.

You can download v3.1 from the Microsoft Live Gallery here.

OK, Thanks to UCF, the gadget is now up to 3.2 (with the blog link) and will save your theme. Deleting the gadget from the sidebar altogether will, of course, stop the theme being saved but you can close the gadget and then re-open it and the theme will be remembered.

Instead of having an all new post, I'll edit the one above with a new link.

Just updated the gadget to 3.2 to add a link to the Blogs.

Version 4 will be next with the winning themes made by our users soon.

I would love the feature to be able to select only certain forums to have updated in the gadget!

But great work otherwise! Great way to keep on top of things!

Hi there,

thanks for the v.5 and although I expect that this question was already asked, I dare to ask: Would it be possible to configure it in a way, that it "only" shows the new posts in threads (/+forums) you subscribed to? That would be amazing!

Thanks in advance.

Not possible. Well actually, it would be possible, but it would require extensive work within IPB to generate per-user RSS feeds, and then the ability to enter your username into the gadget. Something that would require both lots of work and maintenance, and someone who knows how to actually do all that, since it would require a fair bit of coding to do.

Simple answer: no, I'm afraid.

I don't suppose you could add the feature to display the full name of the post when hovering over with the cursor? You only get like the 2/3/4 words... Great gadget though :)

Yeah you should also take advantage of Windows 7's ability to make the widget bigger when you hit that expand button.

Good idea Amon, but it doesn't have the option on this gadget...
