Is it just me it wont update for?!

I had the same "Latest posts" for like 2 hours, I turned the gadget off/on and it updated?
Still some bugs/glitches? Know issues?
Or is my sidebar just retarded?

No, Your quite right, I'm still working on (and having a nightmare with) the refresh. The present version is 1.1, so just look for a version above that to include a refresh fix, any higher versions will also include more themes as they're created.

Glad to hear your trying it out anyways ;)

I like it alot except the update thingie :)

It's awesome to see when something new comes up when you're not on the forum!
Since im pretty much always in some app and fiddling :)

Kudos for the idea and Kudos for trying to get it working!

Feel free to keep me updated on the progress :)

Thnx again!

How are you refreshing? functions etc...
What language are you using btw? Jscript?
Isn't there a ForceXDataFetch(); function? (or is that something specific for another piece of software i'm used to write jscript for)

Just wanted to say nice work on the gadget! Very good stuff! (Y)

One thing i've noticed is that i have to put my mouse cursor in exactly the right tiny spot to be able to use the back arrow. No big deal, of course, but it seems a bit off.

I just tried it and it seems to work well. However the 'refresh' seems to be a problem for most updating gadgets, as the 'news' feed ones I have usually have to be removed, then replaced to update themselves.

The refresh problem has been fixed, the gadget should now refresh every 5 minutes (the same as the forums RSS output), next on the agenda will be to decrease the sensitivity of the button targets and some work on the stylesheets so that each theme can have separate styles/fonts/colours. Then after that I'll get to work on a whole raft of new themes.

Grab version 1.2 here

Hardly a showstopper? More of a personal preference I would say. More themes will be coming soon.

I downloaded it but can't seem to use it. I get the following error when I click on Latest Posts:

http://thevistaforum...ch&CODE=getnew.
Application not found

I get this when I hit the WiKi:

http://thevistaforum...hp?autocom=ineo
Application not found

and this when I hit Control Panel:

http://thevistaforum...=UserCP&CODE=oo
Application not found

I notice that there are no properties or configure buttons. Am I missing something here?

Well, our resident genius UCFknight10 has been busy again, we're updating the gadget on the live gallery, once this is updated (can take up to a few days) I'll update the link on the announcement.

In the meantime you can grab the gadget using the attachment here. As always, delete the previous version first before installing this one. This is version 1.3h, Microsoft, for some reason, don't allow you to use letters in the version variable so it will say 1.3

Version 2.0 has now been released....a few improvements include :
  • Clicking next or previous arrows now gives a message in the middle telling you what page you are on ( 4 pages max)
  • Next and Previous buttons now much more responsive
  • More New Themes
  • Choose between 12 and 24 hour mode in all times displayed
  • Time of gadget's last refresh is permanently displayed and updated
To be added :
  • Tooltips are being investigated but are very hard to do (if at all possible) with gadgets
  • We may add a mini mode for the gadget where the functionality will be in a flyout section but this is not certain yet.
  • One possibility is a flyout with a preview of the chosen post with a link to actually visit the post
Once the gadget is updated and uploaded to the Live Gallery (which can take a couple of days) we will update the announcement

:folder: Click here to download the Vista Forums Gadget Version 2.0 from the Live Gallery.

See attached one of the new themes (Live Messenger).

Just updated to the new version. The improvements are good and it seems to function correctly. The Slate theme suits my desktop and it looks slicker than the previous version.

A flyout preview of posts would be a great idea. My RSS newsreader widget does this and I find it very usefull.

MM

Edited to add: I have noticed that the theme reverts back to the default one after a restart. Is this normal?
