Ok guys. I'm trying to tackle an issue when running 2142. I can run the game fine, no punkbuster issues or affinity settings getting in the way as I've already taken care of that. However, one recurring problem that I can't seem to get rid of no matter what I do is thus;

Usually after a round, though it happened in the middle of the round this time, 2142 freezes up, kicks me to the desktop and gives me the "Battlefiled 2142 has stopped working". Is anyone else having this issue, and if so, how did you fix it? In case anyone needs to know, here is my system...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400
BioStar TForce-SLI
2 XFX GeForce 7600GT cards in SLI (issues were happening before second card was installed)
2GB DDR400 RAM
3 SATA HD, One 320GB (OS and System), One Scratch of 250GB, and one 80GB for music and swap with the swap as a seperate partition.
2 DVD writable drives, one Samsung, one Pioneer both IDE
Soundblaster Audigy 4

Ok, that should cover it. Please help me out if you can. I haven't found any answers on this yet.

This works for that error a lot:

Right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced tab -> Under Performance, click Settings.
Goto the Data Execution Prevention tab -> select "turn on for all software except ones..." yada yada, and add the BF2142.exe to the list.
This worked for me when BF2 or WoW gave me that error.
Good luck

No dice, still having same issue after making changes you suggested. I really, really don't want to have to dual boot betwen Vista and XP. Does anyone have a solution?

It happens to me all the time, and that's why I stopped playing BF2142....

the same **** was happening to me! i uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and now i havent had the problem at all. it hasnt crashed for the last two days yet! but i'm sure the problem will eventually come back. but if u want a temporary fix, give that a shot. it only take likes 10min to re install it.

I looked at about 50 websites before finally figuring it out. I had the bf2142.exe has stopped working error because of the video file r???.dll messing up. I went into the "My Documents" folder and deleted the one title BF 2142. I restarted the game and it worked great....finally!

Good luck!
