I have to say - I've seen allot of forums on my time and none have the level of tech sophistication that this forum does. Its like comparing Vista to XP - which is rather appropriate considering the purpose of these forums ;) . So anyway I just thought I'd set up a thread for people wanting to post their WEI base scores cause well, IDK ^_~.

Note: This isn't a competition and it doesn't matter who's is higher. The fact of the matter is is that current PC base scores of 5-6 will be pathetic in 1-2 years due to advances in hardware. So don't even bother trying to get the so called 'highest' base score. You should also be aware that this # that Vista comes up with isn't always accurate, can sometimes be bugged and doesn't really reflect a PC's true performance ability.

Also, posting pics of 'modified' screenies is naughty and you will receive a lump of coal for Christmas if you do!

Admin's: if there are allot of replies to this - maybe a sticky would be in order B)

And now without further adieu...let the pics fly!

My base score:

Here is the one from my laptop. I just bought it lastnight. I know the score could be better, but what can I expect for the next to cheapest laptop I could find.

now please keep in mind my score should be in the 4-5 range but for some stupid reason im only getting a 2.2 for memory and i have 2 gigs in there,i know for a fact that this thing is buggy cuz i should be higher than a 2.2 for memory...my pc runs fine and everything so i know this is not accurate

Attached ImageShouldnt the WEI be an average of all the scores and not automatically the lowest one? I think thats kind of lame. My WEI is 5.1 on the computer I just built for Vista. Specs in profile.

Well, mine was a 5.7 I cannot provide a screenshot atm because I have Windows XP installed. Yes, I went back to XP. I am going to hold off until companies like Creative get their stufff together and develop proper sound card drivers.

Specs for reference:
CPU- Intel C2D E6600
RAM- 2GB PC2 6400
Graphics- eVGA 8800GTX
Hard Drive: 2X80GB Raid 0
Mainboard- Asus P5B Deluxe

I hope everyone else here is having a good time in Vista. :)

What creative card do you have? My soundblaster audigy 4 works perfectly with the vista driver they released.

X-Fi Platinum. Yeah, it works but it does all kinds of weird stuff like crackle and pop when playing music. Plus there is no control panel yet included with the drivers. On top off all of that I cannot use half of the ports on the front bay panel. They still need a lot of work. As many have said these drivers should be alpha not beta!

I'm happy with mine. The PC only cost me AU$350 minus the video card from my local Cash Converters.

Last night I replaced my Nvidia 6200 with a 6800XT. Before then my desktop performance for Aero was 2.2 and now it is 5.9.

EDIT: Since I am having problems trying to post the pic here are the specs:

Processor: 4.2 (being the lowest that is my overall score)

Memory: 4.3

Graphics: 5.9

Gaming Graphics: 4.7

Primary Hard Disk: 5.3

. Look at my spec in my signature of my laptop and it has a score overall of 3.6. I bought my laptop in December 2005.

VR, it was a good upgrade. COD2 looks real good now, people actually cast shadows now, lol. The old 6200 didn't even have a CPU fan so that tells you how good it was.
