hi

It's a very understandable tutorial (though i don't have ps), i wonder how long it takes to make such a sig.
I've written a program myself to make such a sig very quick! Check this Download (and im not a jackass who puts a virus in it ;) ).
If your modem is older than einsteins first nosehair, it's just 16kb so nothing to fear :P.

Btw, You need a vista premium edition with working Aero or a good skinning program. In case of a skinning program, you can use all kind of windows with it.

In the attachment is the first signature it produced. saving can be done with good old PrtScn

Give me suggestions and ideas, may be through pm. It's still in the developing phase.

Succes with it!

Roughly 10 minutes depending on your skill in PS.

Cool program. Though the point of a Photoshop tutorial is not so you can make the end result, the point of the tutorial is to TEACH you how to make the end result. Techniques learned in my tutorial can be applied to other projects. And since this is the Graphic Design forum I think your post is out of place and a bit hijacky, with your program you're not exactly designing anything are you.

Ability to crop out the edges of your background to the edge of the glass. I think you need photoshop for that...

Ok ability to add a nice glow to the text within the box? Also need photoshop...

I think you should be able to remove that blue/yellow "Image, Right Click" box to the left incase you don't want that.

Otherwise it's... nice.

The glow ability is there, but still under development: Use a darker background and make the letters white. You see a blue glow now (as seen in my sig).
The "Image, Right Click" box can easily be removed: Move the black bar between the text box and the image box to the left until it's on the edge. You wont see any image anymore after the lowest button called "Finish Signature" in the context menu is clicked. voila. (the finish signature button makes the black resizing line disappear.

So what's left over, are the rounded edges: im still developing this, as soon as it's available i'll let you know.

--------- later that day :P --------
Yes, it's all fixed, even glow has been made better! Check the link
whats new:
- rounded edges
- custom glow color

again, let me know what could be better!

Hi, i re-read the topic, especialy your last messages. I feel very sorry  , you feel hijacked like this because i truly admire people like you, who can work that good with photoshop, i couldn't, truly. I just wanted to tell how i was doing it. If i'd have the patience for such graphic designing, i'd have done it your way!

If you still experience my posts as a hijack, i'll edit them and make them more subtile. ;)

peace :P

tierro

btw... i designed the program, but using it isnt designing i have to admit.

It's alright. Though I do suggest you create a new topic regarding your program. That way it gets the attention it requires. Still keep it in the Graphic Design forum because it is used to create graphics.

I had thought about creating something like this myself before I found out how to make the glass in photoshop. But I have no programming background and thought about asking a friend who program in VB.Net and other languages but he's got a bit on his plate.

No no skype.

What are you trying to do? Which part of the tut are you at?

Post a screenshot of what you got so far as well. (A screenshot of the whole thing, so I can see your tools and layers and such)

Will do, I have not been saving much so far, bu next time I will. I still cannot get the ratserize to work. I did not seem to need to do that to continue though. I am having issues with the glass layer and removing the square portion for the text.

I will let you know. Thanks for the help!

I use GIMP for Windows(It uses layers like PS does) I'd like to see a similar tutorial for GIMP on how to do this.

I think that I have most of it figured out. I used the wrong shape option, which caused the raterize issue. I just need to figure out the reshaping of the background pic next!

I noticed that the pictures from the tut are gone?

Sounds like you're almost there.

Yeah there was a problem with my server, it's all sorted out now.

Colin, Thanks for the info! Here is my stab at a logo for my site! It was quick and I will need to go back and do it a few times to make it work better, but what are your thoughts?

Here is the one from the tutorial. I did not want to play with the text too much. I am just proud that I did the rest!
