I got a new HP Pavilion 6500t notebook and everything works great except I noticed that the sounds skips. IT's not bad and doesn't do it much but when it does its very annoying. I tried reinstalling my sound car and still get it. I've read on several boards to turn off the enhancements and did that and still nothing. Any advice. I use winamp and have Realtek High Definition Sound Card.

HERE ARE MY COMPUTER SPECS...

yeh dude,

i have the exact same issue with the 6500t too. I've tried everything under the sun( you can see my post on this forum a couple days back)...nothing's worked, i sent it back to them a few days ago to see if it can be fixed , but damnit if you're having the same problem, then it's prolly not a hardware malfunction. Fudge.

THAT REALLY SUCKS!! this is a really good computer other than the sound issue, which is extremely important to me since i'm a perfectionist when it comes to sound.

I've posted in three forums, scoured the internet for an answer, and nothing. Hopefully this is just a compatibility issue that HP or Vista or whoever will fix soon. God i don't wanna shell out $2000 for a mac. This is the best deal i've found with everything i want.

let me know if you find an answer. good luck.

try going to the sound menu and disabling all the advanced options, i can remember how it is but that's what is causing the problem.

Yea, its not real bad but so annoying when it does skip/stutter. I did notice that if you close the lid and don't do anything that the sound sounds fine. It's definetly a compatibility issue with Vista.

kinda strange though, i've scoured the internet and we're the only two people that seem to be having this issue, unless the others still haven't gotten a chance to ACTUALLY listen to their music, or they might just brush it off as a bad song. Anywho, we'll see what happens when i get my computer back.

lhouzhou01, I just couldn't take it anymore. I contacted HP and got their ridiculous INDIA reps on the phone and they were no help so I called a different number and finally got an AMERICAN speaking person and decided to just send the notebook back and I was credited a FULL refund. There's no fix for it its probably something on that particular model that is causing the sound. So I hate to tell you but you'll probably still have the same issue when you get your computer back. I'm probably going with the Sony Vio (VGN-FZ140E/B) Good luck with everything but if I were I would get your money back while you CAN.

Thats just it you could be listening to a song on Winamp or the Media player and have no other programs open and it skips and stutters for a sec then will be fine then do it again at the end of the song again. I notice if you use flip 3D is it will do. It's definitely either a Realtek HD Audio problem or a problem on the HP Pavilion 6500t Notebook. So no one else using Windows Vista Home Premium + is experiencing sound skipping issues? Your able to use Flip 3D and play music with no stutter or nothing???

that sucks, i really love this computer too, apart from the sound issue. It's a lot cheaper than getting a sony as well, but out of curiosity, what number did you call to get an AMERICAN rep?

Just thought I'd chime in that I'm having the same issue on a tx1219us tablet PC. This is the ONLY forum posting I've seen with this same issue. Using realtek HD audio w/ Vista Home Premium. Updated audio drivers, turned off all advanced features in control panel, and even downloaded winamp. Sound will skip/stutter at various times throughout the song. It's usually only for a second or two, then it picks back up. Very odd.

Do you guys have any updates on your situation?

Well, I thought this might do it. I checked HP Update, and there was a listing for Realtek HD Audio. However after installing and rebooting, the problem is still there. I'm *this* close to putting XP on this thing...

Hopefully the issue will be fixed soon with an update or in SP1 or a driver from eh manufactures website.

I am having this same problem, and my sound board is a RealTek AC'97, too. I installed the drivers via RealTek's site, and they helped for a while, but the skipping sometimes occurs anyway. I also researched this and it's said to disable the audio enhancements within the sound applet via the control panel.

This is frustrating me to no end. Why? Because something as simple as this SHOULD function properly within Vista, especially given the popularity of this audio chipset.

These hardware manufacturers definitely need to get their act together in terms of the crappy drivers they're all delivering.

Amen to that

Vista is a good product , but MS and the user community are being let down by the Third party

Well this issue is Definitely NOT A WINDOWS Vista issue. I believe it's Realtek HD problem. Good thing I'm going with a Creative Sound Blaster sound card.

My desktop had the issue as well , I have a Creative Audigy sound card . updates have cured that as well.
I think it is more than just a Realtek thing .
