Vista says it can't run Dune 2000 setup since it can't run on 64bit.

I have Vista business 64bit and dual core processor.

I know there has to be a way to get past this. It happens when I try to run setup.

I heard about a game where you could make it run on a single core.

Birth of the Federation didn't have any problems, and it is from the same era, no?

There has to be some compatibility box or mode, but I haven't found anything in properties and no boxes on search yet.

I have just done a search which did not show anything useful. If installing a dual boot 32bit operating system is not an option, I am sure someone will have a bright idea.

There are other games: Planescape, Starcraft. Clearly these are 32 bit applications. How come Dune 2000 is the one that won't work? There has to be something to undo this. Did the programmers on the said games include the possibility of running on future 64 bit where those with Dune did not?

Silly me! Dune 2000 is a 16 bit application and Vista no longer supports them as XP did. Apparantly, a solution to this is yet to be made. I wonder how Planescape turned out to be 32 bit(supposedly) though, being from the same time.

I actually played Dune like 5 years ago, it was caled Dune: The Battle for Arracis or something like that. I think that game was pretty awesome for that time....

Well anyways
I decided to find it, and download it<<< well I did find it, and then I installed it, and it ran perfectly fine, and it's an 8-bit application!!!! I don't get why Dun 2000 won't work...

Will it actually not install or can it install but not run?
Just thinking because compatability mode is what you need to set if you can get it to install.

It won't run setup, you may say that it does not install.
No compatibility option in properties works or inludes x-bit support.

How is it possible to run an 8 bit program on Vista when you can't run a 16 bit on?

Let's get this straight. You're talking about which game? Dune 2? That runs on DosBox. You have Vista?
That's right, I played a little Dune 2 these days as I was searching about Dune 2000.

About Emperor(the 6 year old game), I'm sure it works, and it is probably a 32 bit application. X86 means 32 not 8!!!

The game has 8-bit graphics..... And if you still think it's impossible to get that old game running on vista, you might want to check THIS place out.

Also go on this SITE and download Dune 2000 from there, maybe that one will work better for you.

And there is no need to get offended for no reason.

Ok, the game DID work from the link you gave me, but in the end it didn't work the way I needed it to work. This proves that only setup doesn't work on Vista.
What didn't work? If patch the game, the crack it includes is lost an although I have an original Dune 2000 I still can't get it working (or don't know how). Second, I wanted to play on the net via a fan server. It seems I need a real install for thet setup to run, not to mention the patch.

Anyway, you can choose betwenn 8 and 16 bit graphics once in main menu. Default is 16 bit.
