Are you interested in participating in the podcast? Let us know!

This isn't a casual affair and will require some extra effort every time we do another show, but it will also be a lot of fun! There isn't any expectation of anyone in particular, but at least a few of our excellent forum members need to step up to make this Podcast happen.

The critical traits we're looking for:

  • Clear Speaking Voice - We don't want to hurt feelings here, but it must be said that a clear speaking voice is important to a good show.
  • Vocal - Your not afraid to talk! Besides a Clear Speaking Voice, this is the second hardest trait to find, as most people are naturally shy and think they "sound funny" whenever they hear recordings of themselves. If you can just get over yourself for a minute, you might make a good addition to the show!
  • Knowledgeable - The more experience you have the better, and that can be any kind of experience, life skills, technical skills, we want to know you know something useful and that you will bring that to the table.
  • Opinionated - It's okay to have your opinion. In fact it's very important to a proper and fun debate that your opinion matters to you, and you will defend it, but of course ignorance is NOT needed.
If you think you qualify, please apply:

  • You must download and install Skype, and register for a Skype account (free).

  • Send a Private Message to .William with the subject "Podcast Particiaption" and include as many contact details as you can, most importantly your Skype user name.
  • You must own or purchase a good headset, or headphones and any good quality microphone. I use this and it sounds decent enough.
  • You must make yourself available to do a 'test-run' of your podcasting traits. This is essentially a Skype phone call, so that we can get a feel for your 'on-air' qualities. You will be contacted to schedule a time that is convenient for you.
After a review period, you may be awarded a position on the podcast!

This idea of having community members on the podcast instead of just staff has my approval so please feel free to pm Drunkard.

Alright, I've opened the applications to all TVF Members, however there will be a preference towards the most established members and the staff during the selection process. I would very much like to see some of the staff members here join in the fun.

How much time would this consume? Would there be a schedule?

Time consumed will vary, as the podcast will most certainly take an hour or longer to record, and there is an expectation that participants will research and understand the topics we discuss, which of course will require your own time as well. There will be a schedule eventually, though at first it will be on a "whenever we can do it" basis.

It would be great to have you join us on the show. I know you would be another great addition.

Perhaps it's not exactly obvious, but anyone here who is truly interested in participating is welcome to join in.

Exactly, including members of our forums, not just staff.

We would appreciate though, if you do wish to participate in the Podcast, please tell us the week before then we can get you ready to join in without having to panic at the last minute.

Congrats on the podcast great job I finally took the time to listen to all 3 and I was impressed with the work done, I do think 1 hour is a bit much but if there are lots of topics to discuss as there has been then I can understand that it can take that amount of time, but either way great job looking forward to the next one.

I really love it being one hour, so I can listen to parts of it while getting ready for college, then I can listen to the rest while I'm on the way to college too. It's fun :) Loving the great work podcast guys, can't wait to become a part of it all (Y)

Yeah, I've had a few comments about the overall lengths, and it does feel too long at around an hour. But then on the other hand, some might like a long show. It's hard to decide what is more appropriate. The hugely successful This Week in Tech regularly goes over an hour, but this isn't This Week in Tech, so I don't know what's best. Perhaps a poll is in order?

I think 45 minutes is ideal - it's not long, but it's not short. :)

I suppose it is also down to how frequent the pod cast is going to be , so if it is weekly and we are say discussing topics based on the last week it could be covered in 30 min -45min , a poll would be good
