Please help me!!!!

I reinstalled vista on my PC and then reinstalled all the appropriate drivers back on. But from some reason I get no sound and in the system tray it has that Icon display no sound, and reads NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED. When I go to Device Manager it has a yellow caution icon next to audio. This reads "Device Can not Start". Yet when I go to try and fix the issue it reads "This device is working Properly"

Once again.......PLEASE HELP.......... I like sound! :whistle:

Somehow the audio driver is not installed properly, you should download the latest driver and try to install it again.

You can check online using the name of the driver that is highlighted yellow in the Device Manager. Otherwise you could post us a screenshot of it, and we may be able to help you find the latest drivers.

After you have obtained the driver installation file, extract it using WinRAR (right-click, choose extract, any method you prefer). Then open up Device Manager again, right-click on the highlighted item, then click on Update Driver Software, browse your computer and choose the extracted folder, and the voila, your audio driver is installed.

Thanks for these ideas. But have done all this and I still get the same problem. I have an onboard sound cards from a GIGABYTE GA-8I915P Duo Pro.

Downloaded the updated drivers for this. And still the same. I also tried to use the updated (VISTA) Realtek drivers. And this did not help.

I have also been reading on other forums that there are other people who are having the same issue. So if there is anyone out there that has solved this... Please help.

In Device Manager, right-click on the sound card, then uninstall it. Reboot the machine. After it finds the sound card , install the new drivers again and see if that works.

yea... i am having the same problems. i am going to try the methods here..... seriously, though.... how can one operating system have so many problems??? my computer crashed 3 times (3 TIMES) last night when i was using iTunes..... i really hate windows vista.... it better get a hell of a lot better soon

edit: ok, i tried uninstalling and rebooting... it didnt work. my sound device is this: SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC

anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? if you do, feel free to email me at live_and_die_for_freedom@yahoo.com

thank you in advance for any help you may give me. if it wasnt for this support forum, i probably would have killed my computer....

Yeah I tried to unistall as well. Thanks to everyone that has tried to help me on this issue. nothing seems to work. I guess it's one of the things that Vista needs fixing on.

Until then I am stuck with a computer with no sound which really sucks cause I NEED SOUND.

But once again if any one has had this problem and solved it please reply to this post or email me at velchen2@hotmail.com

Pre-Vista Sound Cards were and still are having problems because the Audio Architecture of Vista was completely changed from XP. So many companies are behind on drivers. Even big companies like Creative Labs only recently got their drivers up to speed.

Sound cards made after vista don't have a problem


If you have embedded sound, go to the manufacturer of the Motherboard Website and download the drivers and Install them in Safe Mode.
