I had the same issues,

Disable, then enable and then test the device. Right click your speaker icon and click playback devices, that's what I did.

Wow, lots of people seem to have this same problem. I went to www.noaudiooutput.com and according to them the most common cause is either vista installations or updates. But there are other reasons. Bottom line is I got my sound back, one of thier suggestions worked for me

when i go to playback devices and click test or configure, nothing happens. when i switch to recording devices, it freezes up and i have to ctrl+alt+del to close it.. i have tried everyones method here and i am still having no luck. when i look at the speaker with the rex x icon in my system tray it says volume is 0 (changing volume of course does nothing and still says 0), but it says speakers realteck AC'97 Audio. and if i try to open volume mixer i get the no audio device is in stalled message.

It seems that you just need the drivers or re-install the program. On my old computer a HP Pavilion DV6000 Special Edition, I would go to all programs then click on system re-store. And it would ask me different questions like, do you want t wipe out the drive? or install missing drivers/programs then that helped me out alot i guess  sorry im new to fourms haha xD

well i installed all the drivers that have been made.

here is the other problem i found. my compuiter doesnt seem to recognize the jacks in the back of my computer where the onboard sound device is....in playback devices i cannot configure or test anything or enable/disable, it just doesnt work. and when i go to properties for the sound driver(which it recognizes) it telss me there is no jack information.
on my otehr computer which uses almost the same everything, it has the jack info, so i know that is most likely my problem.

i hav the no audio output device installed error...i've looked at all ur solutions n woundered

why when i go to device manager, n go to sound options..it says..blah only ur webcams in here..where the hell did my speakers go?

when i ask for any recent hardware changes it gives me no answer

i hav a hp w1907 moniter with internal speakers

also when i right click my volume icon, n go to playback..their is no option their
it simple says no audio devies are installed...
so i cant unistall a driver or re-install it because they dont excist

i didnt download anything or update it, I PUT IT IN SLEEP MODE FOR THE NIGHT...wtf
everyone one sounds like the were updateing from a vista to buisness or xp to vista

i did none of that

soo solutions, whos got them?
