I was getting some BlueScreen Errors and I went into safe mode and disabled the virtual device utility ASUS ATK0110 ACPI. After, I have not had any blue screens. And, it was over a month.

But now, I would like to clear the driver from my system. I go into regedit and take ownership and delete the keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\ACPI\ATK0110 and subs
and the same in ControlSet002\Enum and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet.

I delete the .sys file.

And It gets a Genesis, Birth >_<

I phone The ASUS technical support, and the person, told me ("Micheal" in the Jefferson IN office) that I should re-install Vista if I want the ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY removed !

It must be some place rebuilding itself. But, I can't find it.

I also have it blocked in Windows Update.

I keep going back and deleting the keys but it does no good. I do not have the PC Probe utility or any other program that needs it.

At this point I would call it a virus.

I have Vista 64.

Anyone know how to kill this thing? Help!

I don't think it is on the MB. I blocked it during the first install Windows Update. After about 3 months, I put the ASUS disk in to pull off the PDF. I started getting crashes, and I looked and the disk must have installed it.

PS: I updated it off Windows update and then from the ASUS site and it did not solve my crash problem. On the net, when you do a search, many posts come up with the BlueScreen. I fixed it by disabling it. Now, I would like to take it out of my Vista software. I would like to do it before In do a new full backup.
