Dear ALL,

TheVistaForums.com (TVF) has hit a new milestone today - we now have 20,000 members! That probably makes us the biggest unofficial Windows Vista forum around, but more importantly, we hope you have enjoyed and benefited from being part of the TVF community.

Being the quirky bunch that we are, the staff team at TVF has decided to take on a suggestion by your fellow member, makmak, to organize a "virtual" get together at 8:00 am (U.S. Pacific Time) on Monday, November 26th. The objective is to try and break the record of "most users online" set on January 30th - the eve of Windows Vista's public launch. We understand that it's going to be tough beating 2,570 but let's try just for fun. :)

How Do I Join In?
Easy! All you have to do is show up on the forum between 7:30 to 8:00 am. The counter logs all activities within the last 30 minutes.

Prizes, Prizes, Prizes...

Posted Image
Eset, maker of the popular NOD32 antivirus program, has decided to sponsor some prizes for this event. What will happen is that we will randomly pick 10 members from the active member list at 8:00 am. The 10 lucky winners will walk away with a copy of the recently-launched NOD32 version 3.0 antivirus software that comes with a 2-year subscription.

Do you blog?
Blog about this event and get your friends, relatives and neighbour's sister to come and help us take a crack at the record. Better yet, explain why you love TVF, so that they are encouraged to join as a member too. In addition, Mark has created a variety of badges that you can stick on your blog:

You can right-click and save the badge, and upload it to your own server or link to the image directly using HTML codes, e.g.:
<a href="http://thevistaforums.com"><img src="http://thevistaforums.com/1.png" width="160" height="60" alt="Windows Vista Forum"></a>

(depending on your choice of badge, change the filename "1.png" accordingly)

Feel free to reply with a link to your blog post below, so that both the staff and members can visit your blog and read what you've written. The blogger with the best written message will win a copy of Eset's new Smart Security software - a combination of NOD32 antivirus plus antispam and personal firewall, which also comes with a 2-year subscription.

Once again, the important details...

yeah, get anyone you can. This site is great. Keep in mind that this also includes guests, but we want well over 100 Members to be on early monday morning for this to work. On advarge there are between 150-350 guests alone sp we will at least 200 + members.

I'm happy to see this sort of thing happening. a great way to bring more members in. Good luck everyone (Y)

Oh btw, it says between 7:30 and 8:00 but then you tell us to come at 8. whats the real time? I got the counter recording the forums part, but i'm a little confused

I'm sure if a member worked on it it would help staff out a lot. This is a first major Planned event here at TVF.

Chris: it's best if you came in at 8:00, but it's also ok if you come in anytime within 30 minutes of that time because the counter records activities in the last 30 minutes. Since we're picking winners at around 8:00, you want to make sure that your name gets on the list before that time. ;)

BrianBH: yes they did so that means we're quite significant. Google has also acknowleged this by giving us a premium in search engine results. If you searched for "windows vista forum", we're not only ranked #1 of over 200 million results, but it also shows our INTERNAL links - the other results don't have this.

Caretaker: the "time chart" is already there. You only need to click on the link at the bottom which says "Click here for your local time".

Good luck everyone! :)

BrianBH: it's search word-specific. So I would assume that "windows vista forum" had bigger number of searches and click-throughs. Hence, I won't discount the possibility of having the internal links show for other keywords in the future. ;)

very good question JMC i never thought to even ask that..........even if it is only 6week trial or a 6 month thing "not sure how long the typical is", i think it would be great just to see how it works and such
