It's been two days now and I still have not yet seen Service Pack 1 in my Windows Update. I have tried refreshing it hundreds of times, but it is still not showing up. All of my drivers are up to date, so I can't understand why I'm not getting it. Can anyone fill me in?

Might seem like a silly question, but have you restarted your PC a couple times over the past few days?

You probably have one or more drivers that are incompatible with Vista. Check this read out.

I installed SP1 on the evening of the 18th using Windows update, although, the first time I checked Windows Update it only showed an update for my NVIDEA graphics drivers, I installed these first and once this was done, Windows update found SP1 straight away. It took roughly an hour and went smoothly. The "not responding" issue with Windows Mail I was getting has been solved and the general speed of copying files has improved, the OS seems much 'snappier' now.

I am pretty sure all of my drivers work with Vista, but I took a look at the page just in case. None of my drivers are listed there, so I'm guessing all of my drivers are compatible with Vista.

I checked Windows Update again this morning, and Service Pack 1 still is not being offered to me.

Okay, since its now been five days and I'm still not getting SP1, my only guess is that there is something in my computer that is going to make SP1 angry and do something bad. What, I don't know.

Regardless, I'm not gonna keep holding my breath. Vista has been working great for me all this time. When SP1 decides it wants to come to me, then I'll let it. Until then, I'm not going to try to force it into my system if it doesn't want to.

I shouldn't worry too much about it.

Although I have SP1 installed it hasn't made a scrap of difference performance-wise.

It's not just a driver issue. There are a few updates that MUST be installed or SP1 will never show up. If you have hidden any updates you need to unhide and fine the few that you need to get.

Click the link below and scroll down to Method for Cause 8. I garantee you this is why you have not seen it yet. And you may only see one of them and have to install then the other. After that SP1 will appear.
