one question, sorry.

how to hide the Evaluation Copy (watermark thing)?

Check out this entry in the WiKi, You may need to use this entry in the WiKi to take ownership of the file mentioned.

Works for me as you can see below.

thank you,
i just realise that this is not the final SP1. As been told here
i guess, i just uninstall this version (rc) and wait for the Official release.

  • This is pre-release code and will change before the final release. Windows Vista SP1 Release Candidate is for individuals, organizations, who are comfortable evaluating pre-release software. This pre-release software is provided for testing purposes only. Microsoft does not recommend installing this software on primary or mission critical systems. Microsoft recommends that you have a backup of your data prior to installing any pre-release software.

  • Windows Vista SP1 Release Candidate is time-limited software. It will no longer operate after June 30, 2008 and should be uninstalled prior to that date. Note: After installation your desktop will show the text “Evaluation Copy”. This does not mean that your system is no longer “Genuine”. It means that you have installed a test version of software which is time-limited.

  • If you install the Service Pack 1 Release Candidate, it is strongly recommended that you also plan to install the final version of Windows Vista SP1 when it is released in the first quarter of 2008. To do this, you will be required to uninstall this pre-release code.

Why uninstall it now? Just wait for the official release and then uninstall the RC version and install the final version. If you take it out now then you'll lose the benefits.

After a couple days now, i can certainly feel the difference speed wise. And, the biggest thing for me thus far, is that i like to O/C, Vista prior to RC didnt like me tweaking things that much, tossed things into errors etc.

Now , it doesn't seem to bother it at all. I love this release... Great Job Ms peeps!

Feels a little snappier and much more stable. I think it is worth installing. The final can only get better.

One thing I think is missing is the DirectX 10.1, I've poked about in dxdiag and don't see any change. Still, I don't think I'd notice much change in it anyways.

Just installed it and everything seems smoother and quicker, particularly Microsoft Office 2007.

Installing it right now. Sounds good people!

EDIT: 40 minutes later.....all seems good. Firefox loaded faster and browsing Windows Explorer seems a tiny bit faster.

Does anyone know if the SP1 fixes the wireless lag issue?
If you don't know what this is, if you're using a wireless connection in Vista you 'lag out' every minute while the OS polls for other available networks.
You can see it happening if you ping a site in the command prompt (such as ping www.google.com -t). I get ~28ms for 59 of the 60 seconds, and anything up to 2500ms for the other.
I really hope the SP does solve this problem *fingers crossed* (Y)
