Heads up to all gamers, Pirates of the Burning Sea released just over a week ago and it is awesome. Yes i'm being a fanboy but usually i'm an FPS kinda guy but PotBS is an MMO. This is my first MMO and i'm thoroughly impressed. For several reasons... support, the devs are constantly updating the website and patching is taking place almost daily, bugs are reported and fixed...PUBLICLY by FLS (flying labs software), it's been almost 10 days since release and v1.1 is about to release. Feedback is not only suggested but listened to and RESPONDED to. The community seems very helpful and supportive both ingame (from live support or by asking /support...live tech support) and in the forums.
It's just a guess but with the serious LACK of quality games releasing this year (2008) i'm thinking that PotBS will be a GOTY (game of the year) finalist. People, get in on the fun...give it a try. Each PotBS game comes with a 2 week "buddy key" (aside from your normal product id key) that lets a friend try out the game for free. Cool huh?
The game is set in the Carribean in the year 1720. In a nutshell you can choose from one of THREE nations (England, Spain, or France) or you can choose to be from a PIRATE nation. Of the three nation (not including Pirate) you can either be a freetrader, a military officer or a privateer (pirate hunter). There are over 80 ports in PotBS and are divided up between the 4 nations. Aside from at sea or on land battles (swashbuckling) there is a intense economy that drives each nation. Right down to producing cannon balls for the motherland. Or say for example, maybe rum to keep morale up. Once a nation controls the ports awards will be given out and buffs to the losers and the map will reset.
It's lots of fun and I suggest at least looking into it. www.burningsea.com or just google or live search it for more info.
Fair winds and following seas my friends!!!
