As a Packer fan I still wont be too bias on where I would place him.. Even though stats wise he is the best, I say hes in the top 5, probably 3 or 4..

I hope Aaron Rodgers does a good job, I have confidence he will.

Brett Favre made the game of football fun to watch. Just by seeing the way he acted on the field and how his teammates responded to him, you could so easily tell how much he loved and enjoyed the game and how respected he was by his fellow players. I will really miss watching him on Sundays. Like everyone else, he certainly had his bad days. But even on his worst day, he was still fun to watch because you knew there was always that chance that somehow he'd snap out of it and light things up. The guy will be, hell, already is, a legend.

No other NFL player had the combination of talents that he had. And i'll bet that if you were to poll the entire NFL organization on who they would want as the quarterback and true leader of their team, Brett Favre (in his prime, of course) would be way out in front.

Top 5 all-time without a doubt. #1 is arguable, but not certain by any means.

Given his last name and its pronounciation, I always thought his first name should be spelled Bertt. :shifty:

Brett Farve is a great player and one of the top 10 qbs of all time. I would rank him in the top 5, but there are so many other qbs which I could think are better. Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath etc... Favre was a ton of fun to watch and when he retired I was in shock because I thought he would stick around with his young team for another couple of years or until he got injured. I will miss him.

Aaron Rodgers went to my high school when he was in high school and I'm friends with his brother it's pretty cool to know an NFL player. Aaron was in town in October for our big Football (American) game vs our cross town rival.

I ranked him number one, not just because of his stats, but also because he was able to make mediocre players play like greats. Other great QB's like Aikmen, Marino, Elway, Montana, Brady, Manning, etc. had outstanding teams around them. Look at Aikmen, he had Emmit Smith, a great offensive line, great reciving core, and a good defense. Its easy to make big numbers when you have time to throw. Take Brady for example. Outstanding team, but when the giants started knocking him on his ass for once, he wasn't nearly as affective. Similar cases can be made for all or most of these greats, except Farve. In most cases, Brett had to make an avg player play better. He was forced to be a "gunslinger" because he didn't have the protection, or there was no running game, or a poor defense, and had to make the plays happen. As a result he did through alot of interceptions. But he won more games with his off hand throws than he lost. His ability to get up shake it off, and make plays, game after game is unprecidented. Even last season he took a team, that shouldn't have been better than 8-8, and went to the NFC Championship.

haha, ive been saying it since he retired, and now im saying it again, there is no way Favre is staying retired after the season he had last year.

and here is the espn article proving it:

Now for him to become a football announcer, football analyst, or football coach. While doing TV adverts, of course.

OH boy... My beloved Packers have made a HUGE mistake and traded Brett to NY Jets. UMMMM what are you thinking Thompson???? I mean really, your going with Rogers, over Brett??? Do you not like winning??? My prediction is this... Packers will be 2nd place in division (Vikings will win), Rogers will be a disapointment, Thompson is gone at the end of season, and Brett Favre will take the Jets to the Playoffs on the wildcard spot. (not bad considering the Jets were 4-12 last season. But alas, I will still cheer for the Green and Gold...even if they are led by idiots.

well... my prediction was close. packers were bad without farve, jets almost made playoffs. Thompson is still around though. This season will bring the return of Farve to the NFL, landing with the Vikings. My next prediction is that packers will be 8-8 this year, the Vikings will make the NFC championship, and it will be a coin toss if they make the Superbowl. Brett Farve will prove once again that not only can he fill seats... but he can still play and make an average team much better. After the 2009 season, pressure will be put on Thompson to find a replacement for Rogers, who is average at best. I think there will also be pressure to finally get rid of the managment of the packers after blowing off Farve only to have him come back and kick their butts in both games in the NFC north.

I am a packer fan and it continues to be a sad time for the Pack, as the blunders continue.

Jet's didn't "almost make playoffs" they were 8-3 and lost to some of their easiest opponents (Seahawks, 49ers, Broncos; all of which Favre threw no TD's) to finish 9-7. Even in the closer against Miami, Favre crumbled and ended up throwing 3 picks. There's absolutely no excuse for that. If the Vikings sign Favre they'll realize he's an old broken imitation of his former self. The man can't play.

I rank Brett Favre in the top NONE. He is just acts like a big "hot shot jock". He is just an idiot. Retire already Favre.

He's back. by the way I disagree with you Zepplin, Brett played poor the second half of the season with Jets due to injury. Most QBs would have been out, but Brett played, maybe shouldnt have in hindsight, but if his surgery holds up and he doesnt get hurt, expect NFC championship with the Vikings this year. And for the nay sayers, he had his second best season of his carreer two years ago, why wouldn't he play. Even as a gariatric (spelling?) he is better than 75% of the QB's in the league. I look forward to watching him play the packers. In some respect, I would like to see him beat the packers, just to prove a point, but, I am a packer fan, so, I guess I will root for the pack.

He got injured in the final play of the season. What are you talking about?

EDIT: He just went 1-4 in his Vikings debut.

Are you serious? Rodgers is one of the (very) few bright spots on Green Bay's roster. How can you complain about a QB that throws for 4,000 yards, 28 TDs/13 INTs, a 63.6% completion rating and a QB rating of 93.8, all while doing that with an offense that kind of lacks in talent. How are those stats average? Give him a decent team, and Green Bay will be one of the feared NFC giants again.

The team he inherited went 12-3 the previous year, umm pretty sure it doesnt get a whole lot better than that.

12-3? Fantastic, now did they actually finish the season or just stop before the last game? And yes, it does get better than 13-3. (16-0, 15-1, 14-2.)

Oh by the way Farve did play injured the last 5 games and contributed to a lot of interceptions. Here is a recent article about it. http://lacrossetribu...1cc4c002e0.html

And as for the record, you get the point 12-4 is pretty darn good. I suggest you get off your high horse, and stop bashing Favre. You may not like him, his off season BS, or whatever, but he is still at nearly 40 yrs old, better than 3/4 of the QB's in the league.

It's easy to say that when he has the greatest running back in the NFL lined up behind him. Take AP out of the equation and the Vikings are a 10-6 team at best.

take away any star player from any team and someone else wont look as good. Favre has had to throw plenty this season and has done so well. I'm sure if Tom brady or Payton Manning, Breeze played for the Lions, they wouldn't be nearly as good either right? The fact is you just hate favre, or at least are unwilling to admit that he is still a good QB. Your hatred blinds you. Maybe its because your a Jets fan, (assuming based on your pic) and are bitter that he got hurt and didn't bail out your sorry team. Whatever the case, I am a Packer fan, but I can at least admit facts and see beyond my bias.
