There are major known issues with Sims 2 and Vista. There have literally been hundreds of threads on here discussing this. Do a quick search and I am sure you will find something to help you out.

I can't remember so well, but I think I had this issue a while back.

You need a patch to update the game with Vista if you have not done so already, go ahead and do it. You can find it on Fileplanet, just do a quick search for it. The game should work after that, if not try to run it as an administrator and try it once more.

Try this and report back. :)

The DirectX issuse is easly resolved. Microsoft Loaded Vista with DX10 API but not the DX9 runtimes. unlike previous windows where 8 replaced 7 and 9 replaced 8 DX10 is seperate from DX9.

I recommend you to open a new topic where you state your issue, your hardware, and make it as thoroughly as you can manage.

I will also add my advice on searching the forums here first for a solution, lol. I believe some links were listed near the top of this thread :D

I noticed that depends whether you boot from autorun, it won't work (without patch) if you just click a shortcut.
