Hello,
I am trying to get a ASCII (.txt) file when I print a PDF File. I have a PDF FILE. I have set-up a printer as a Generic Printer. It's output is GENERIC TEXT.
Now, when I print the PDF, it prints the Text to a text file , fine. But, the formatting is completely skewed. There are lots of spaces in between charecters and there is no consistent pattern either.
I read a lot on Escape Charecters for setting up the printer. But, I could not conclude on how to achieve this.
I am trying to print on a regular 8.5 X 11, with no margins. I am working on Vista 32--Ultimate, with OFFICE 2007 and Adobe 9
I am using regular drivers...that came with the OS.

I have attached the text file that is in debate.

Please help.

Attached File(s)

  • Attached File  tt.txt (7.31K)
    Number of downloads: 16
  • Attached File  tt.txt (7.31K)
    Number of downloads: 7

I don't use Acrobat - I like Foxit but doesn't Acrobat have a "Save as text" feature?

Yes, Adobe has a "Save as Text" option. But, the text output will all be left justified. So, every line starts at the column 0. What I need is, wherever the text is on the Adobe Pdf file, I need the text to be at the same location on the .txt file.

Thank you for your time and effort....please help.
