Still got those free Superbowl 3D Glasses?

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card?

Do you have Left 4 Dead and want to scare yourself stupid?

Well check this out....

Quote

First thing’s first, what you’ll need:

Windows Vista or XP
Nvidia 8xxx series or later
Free superbowl 3d glasses
Left 4 Dead

You will need to install some Nvidia drivers first.

1. Install 181.22. For XP ver 181.20.
2. Reboot
3. Install Nvidia 3d Stereoscopic drivers 181.25 For XP ver 91.31
4. Execute the following registry update depending on what colour of 3D glasses you have :

Blue/Yellow : Click Here
Red/Blue : Click Here
Red/Green : Click Here

What the registry update does:

First it enables the use of Coloured 3D glasses (AKA anaglyph).
Next, it changes from the default red/blue lenses to the superbowl colorcode yellow/blue lenses, or red/blue or red/green.
And finally, it enables the 3d Stereo drivers.

5. Enter the nvidia control panel and enable the steroscopic settings in the stereo tab.

Start Left 4 Dead and enter a game. It should be yellow/blue 3D.

One final bit, the drivers support more than just Left 4 Dead. here’s a full list of supported games.

to remove the registry entries, run this registry file and then reinstall the 3d stereo drivers from nvidia. This will restore the default values.

I've been having fun with this all day, 3D Gaming!!

Remember, what this is basically doing is showing the game twice so try not to make the resolution too high or your game will run like crap and your video card will overheat - TVF takes no responsibility for any damage to your graphics card if you don't take heed of this warning

On an unrelated note, how/where can I get hold of some decent 3D glasses?

Which type William? I ordered a pair of these, seemed to be the most decent ones around for a fair price. They have rubber on the nose and the temples so you can wear them for a long period of time without them getting uncomfortable and seem better quality than most of the ones I found. I could not find anywhere in the UK that sold them though and that site only charges £5 for postage to the UK whereas a lot of others wanted around £20. Which is ridiculous.

This wont work. Dont you need a 200hz monitor for proper 3D graphics?

Shouldn't do. This effect just requires a normal monitor and 3D glasses - the same as, say, movies on DVD that work with your existing TV.

I tried one of these before, it was fun, but felt abit odd, maybe Nvidia drivers would be better.
