What addons do you use? Please post them and their functions w/ links.

Adblock Plus - Blocks ads
Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper - Blocks elements of websites.
Foxmarks - Sync bookmarks across multiple Firefox browsers.
Download Statusbar - Replaces download pop-up window with bar across bottom of browser.

SimpleMail - Very basic mail client that runs within a Firefox tab.

I know, a thread for this topic probably already exists but I don't want to go searching for it. Just shaddap.

here we go
Adblock - Blocks ads.....at the end of the post ill give my blocked stuff
Brief - handles Feeds
Download Status Bar - nefty download thing
Download Them All - you know how sometimes when you download things, they don't download as fast as they should, download those with this and it will download as fast as your download speed allows
Freecorder - allows you to record audio playing on your computer
IE Tab - for those times you got to use IE :realmad:
Minimize To Tray - When you Minamize it goes to Tray, another must have in my book
Personalize Menu - gives you one toolbar icon that you can place menu bar into it
Screen Grab - saves a webpage as a .jpg
Tab Counter - counts the about of tabs you have open
TAB MIX PLUS - you can set it up to have every link you open to open up in a new tab, you can protect tabs from being closed by mistake, this is by far my favorite and can not and will not go without
your also able to import and export the settings, i'll upload mine just incase you wasnt to see what it can do
Toolbar Buttons - this one gives you extra buttons for your tool bars...including a restart button

i use a few others but those are only from ABC, NBC, FOX so that i can watch shows online

as stated i uploaded my setting for Tab Mix Plus and my blocked ads for Ad Block

Adblock Plus - As mentioned by c0lin.
Adblock Plus Element Hiding Helper - As mentioned by c0lin.
Cooliris - As mentioned by pat.
DownThemAll - Download Manager/Accelerator.
FEBE - As mentioned by pat.
Flagfox - Shows the server location as a flag, the IP address and links to advanced server information.
Foxmarks - As mentioned by c0lin.
Google Gears - Handy for speeding up loading of admin panels in certain websites such as Wordpress.
IE Tab - Switch to IE rendering engine for sites that need IE.
Keyscrambler - Encrypts keystrokes.
Minimise to Tray - Minimise to system tray (duh). (Not compatible with Firefox 3 technically, needs to be force installed.)
Minimise to Tray Enhancer - Adds certain features to above.
Nightly Tester Tools - Good for testers of nightly builds but I use it to force install incompatible addons.
NoScript - Extra security by blocking javascript unless you allow it on a site to site basis.
Tab Mix Plus - Adds many features to tabs like reopening closed tabs, highlighting unread tabs etc.
Tiny Menu - Makes the menu into one Menu button. Good for saving space. :)
WOT - Web of Trust. A guide to how trustworthy and safe a website is, with colour codes and warnings when visiting dangerous sites.
YouTube Comment Snob - Hides YouTube comments which fit parameters set by you.

I only use 4 add-ons, I find all of them indispensable...

Homepage Tab - Opens your homepage when you open a new tab (I really can't believe Firefox does not do this by default or even have it in the options)

Foxmarks - As previously described.

DownThemAll - As previously described.

Secure Login - Stores your login info for pages, just click the key icon and you are logged into any webpage you've stored. Excellent for forums ;)

Question: If you use Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper, for example, to block the fugly navigation bar on the left, is it normal or expected that the white space under it remains? In other words, is there a way to get a page to reclaim space lost by a blocked element?

Example:

That's what I tried until I was pointed in the right direction to greasemonkey...

I use:

Adblock Plus - Absolutely mandatory and it works like a charm. I love being able to block anything and everything. Speeds up my browsing (not that it isn't already fast) and it removes loads of clutter on a webpage. Also in lots of forums it's really great because they have those fullscreen adds that pop up and it keeps them away.

Flashblock - Extremely handy for those massive flash animations that always try and load and that get in your face. Not to mention I like being able to open a youtube page without the streaming automatically because sometimes I just want to read the comments.

Greasemonkey - This addon speaks for itself and needs no explanation. However I have only got a clipbox saver installed for it so far because I sometimes really need to go back and remember what I have selected with CTRL + C

Redshif V3 Skin - The upside is it looks lovely the downside is all the extra eyecandy costs me an amazing extra 10 Mbs of RAM LOL! Making it perhaps the largest memory chewing skin of all time!

Since installing FireDownload from here: http://www.fireaddons.com/ I am getting insane download speeds. Speeds that I shouldn't be getting. I had one HTTP download sustaining speeds of 2MB/s, my connection speed should only allow 1MB/s. I will do further testing and post back.

Edit: Just an example. I downloaded Untangle 450MB from SourceForge in less than 5 minutes:

AutoPager - Automatically loads the next page of a site inline when you reach the end of the current page for infinite scrolling of content.

I tend to neglect DL managers after Orbit hooked into my Browser and completely effed my downloading. So I would love to hear back what kind of a review you could do on this :) thanks.

Mine:
  • British English Dictionary: To help me spzlles korrect lolz!
  • Favicon Picker 3: Allows you to change the favicons on bookmarks.
  • Firefox PDF Plugin for Mac OS X: It's like Foxit Reader but for Mac.
  • Firesomething: Changes Firefox's name to stuff like "Mozilla Waterchameleon". Despite what it says it works fine with Firefox 3. It's randomly generated, but it doesn't work that well on OS X because it only shows up on blank tabs due to the way OS X handles app titles. :(
  • Foxmarks Bookmarks Sync: Invaluable. This has saved my bookmarks more then once, and it's great for accessing them anywhere, and keeping them the same across any PCs I use.
  • FxIF: Right-click access to EXIF data on any image in Firefox.
  • Geode: Ads a W3C geolocation API. Basically, location services for Firefox.
  • Google Redesigned: Dark grey look for Gmail, Google Reader, etc.
  • Greasefire: Works alongside Greasemonkey - it allows you to find scripts for the site you're viewing. Doesn't work all that well sometimes though.
  • Greasemonkey: Allows you to modify websites to your liking, such as moving and removing elements, changing CSS, and so on.
  • Inquisitor: Very useful search plugin that I don't use nearly as much as I should.
  • Server Spy: Displays the web server software that the site you're visiting uses. For example, TVF shows "Apache".
  • ShowIP: Shows the IP(s) of the website you're on. Also allows easy right-click access to whois/IP info/etc.
  • Stylish: Like Greasemonkey, but different. I think.
  • Ubiquity: Another useful Firefox extension that I don't use nearly as much as I should, and also another one based on searching. But with extra useful stuff. :D
  • UrlbarExt: Adds extra buttons to the URL bar - I only use it for the is.gd creation though.

And since themes are sortof considered as add-ons:
  • Chromifox: Makes Firefox look similar to Chrome.
