It ain't really the "mother of all Vista trademarks". It goes to show that your PC is not fully-capable of handling Vista. Vista is a resource hog -- you can already tell that by its ridiculously high and strict system requirements. If you want better Vista experience, go get a better and more stable PC.

Or you donīt get a new PC, and try and find more stable drivers . Solved most of the system crashes I used to get on my new PC (the last system crash I solved with an dual core optimizer, or something like that). Was way cheaper then getting a new PC, especially when I already had bought one!

I've had my fair share of problems on Vista, but none of them were the fault of the OS itself. They were all caused by bad drivers, bad software and a hardware fault. Oh and a few self induced BSODs by ending processes I shouldn't...

Vista runs like a charm on my iMac and I have had no issues with it, all my issues were on my laptop.

Sorry Noel258366....but I don't know what you are talking about...

I have been using Vista Premium for 2 years and I have never had a single problem with it. It is the most stable, reliable and user friendly OS I have ever come across.

I can not say that for XP which I used for about 5 years. I would NEVER go back to XP.

Really?

I notice that everyone who posts to this thread that they have never had any problems with Windows Vista are all Vista Home Users. Try using Vista in a business, educational, or other workplace.

Don't get me wrong, I have been a HUGE supporter of everything Microsoft since I started messing around with computers, throughout high school, throughout college, and now in the workforce at a local college. There are definite problems with Vista that makes one disappointed in a product they have had brand loyalty with for many years. These issues include crashes with core components, third-party applications, drivers, and an overall slower experience (though Microsoft is clearly pushing people to upgrade their hardware, so that concern isn't so much of a big deal). From someone who supports numerous servers, and over 200 Vista clients (incorporating Windows Domain, DNS, DHCP, File Servers, Group Policies, Terminal Services, etc), there are issues with the OS...still.

I look forward to the official of Windows 7, and have been impressed with the RC since it came out recently.

Only issue I've had has been when my computer goes into sleep mode, and I can't get it to wake up, unless I reset and reboot. I attributed it Vista, I could be wrong. Other than that, just figuring out where things were in Vista was my biggest challenge. I hope MS left those the same in Win7.

Since I don't have time to read it all I'll simply state - I've run Vista since mid-2006 ... as alpha and beta products. Yes, there are some errors, but, you just take it. Apple is the same way - trust me, I've had frustrations with Apple - but Vista is NOT terrible. It's good. It works. It's fast. You just have to take the bill with sugar.

Vista user since the beta release, no regrets.
XP now looks and feels dated.
Win7 even smoother.

Vista is certainly a dog's dinner.
Windows 7 is what it should have been.
Bought Vista and wish I hadn't.

You know I remeber that happening to me a few times a while ago. I "think" is was a program...but could have been before SP1, or video card driver before fix. Because those are the only things I can think of. There was some 3rd party freeware I use to keep running. I determined that it may have been the cause of it at one time (it didn't always happen) so I always closed it.

I've been sleeping for a long time without any problems since.

I don't understand why everyone hates Vista. One of my friends and my psychologist have both said that they heard it was terrible and were going to stick to XP. I have been using Vista for a few months now and have had no huge problems. Where are you hearing all of this?

Vista is often blamed when the real problem is either the hardware, drivers, or an application. Microsoft is in the difficult position of writing an OS for hardware that they did not design or build and supporting applications that they did not write. Apple has control over both hardware and the OS, thus eliminating many of these problems. Some device driver and application developers do not follow published guidelines and do things that they are specifically warned about. Microsoft has gone to great lengths to make these applications and drivers work, but developers keep coming up with new and innovative ways of breaking the rules.

The problem with Vista is it only runs properly on computers with high end parts...most PCs don't fully meet the requirements causing it to lag...
My suggestion..Windows 7 way more compatible, and universal than vista...:)

Well, that's not true anymore. Right now, and for quite some time, any computer on the market (apart from netbooks) runs Vista just fine. Vista was seen as "very slow" when it came out because people tried to install it on 3-year-old hardware, which didn't work well at all. :)

Here's a link that describes in layman's terms Vista's "possessed HD symptoms", which prolly effected a lot of people with old, slow HD's.

Short moral to the story is that HD speed DOES matter too. Not just the size. ;)

I agree, vista was not the greatest operating system. I mean the vista iso was over 4gb. windows 7 is 100% better than vista. OS X still is the #1.
