One of the best places to get your patches, demos and drivers is going to bed permanently in 4 days time.

Ouch, that hurts.

Hmm, I know WarcraftMovies will definitely notice this, many of the movies there are linked to FileFront where you can stream or download them.

Tis' a sad day. But honestly, considering how much it must cost them to run, it's not too surprising really.

I wouldn't have noticed if it went away silently.

From what I've seen there are many rescue efforts going on within the various communities. Many are being relocated to different networks and apparently EA is stepping in and saving all the files from the EA games sites. Although Filefront will be gone it's files and communities will be moved elsewhere.

It is not the end after all! Filefront has been bought back from Ziff Davis by the original founders of the site, saving it from doom.

Although many thought it was an April Fools joke, an official announcement stated it wasn't and that they would never do something like that to their community... :shiftyninja:

If it was an April Fools joke then it would have been in extremely bad taste. Maybe it was originally then they received quite a few emails stating that, such as "Hi My name is Joe. I recently lost my job due to the company I work for going out of business. If this is an April Fools joke I will find you." so they were forced to reconsider what they were going to say after the 1st.

I don't personally think it was a joke, just very bad timing.

Yeah looks like the company that owned FileFront filed for bankruptcy a year ago.
