According to EA, The Sims 3 moved 1.4 million units in the first week of its release making it the fastest selling Sims game, ever (which yes, is extremely impressive considering how well these games sell).
“With more than a dozen press awards, strong reviewer scores and positive feedback from The Sims community, we are thrilled with the success of The Sims 3 launch and the early sales indicate that we have another hit on our hands,” said Rod Humble, Head of the EA Play Label. “The volume of items created with The Sims 3 and downloaded online is a testament to how passionate The Sims players are. It’s their world now, we can’t wait to see everything players create and share.”

I bought a copy. :D

Now, I wonder how long it'll be until EA bring out all the usual 300 expansion packs?

I even cheated once I got bored of the game. Gave myself a bunch of monies. Then I built a pool. Then I built walls around the pool and had my Sim wife take a swim and closed off the only opening in the wall. A few hours later (sim time) she drowned. Real wife wasn't happy to hear that I had killed her.

I used to play the Sims 2 every so often, mainly just to build up cool and wacky houses for people to live in. I even built on floating in the sky once with just a lift to get down to ground level, it was pretty awesome.

I'll probably get Sims 3, though I'm gutted that you can't make houses on empty lots anymore... :(

got sims 3, i think it is the best so far (sims 2 was kinda weak to be honest) sims 3 is what sims was dreamed of to be when sims 1 was released.Sims 2 seemed like a small rehash with all its thousand of expansions, sims 3 is quality game now.

the thing as about sims, cheating makes it boring ,just like any other games.By cheating with money, you already lost some of the point of the sims 3, and makes it unrealistic

You can. But I think they've botched up the interface a bit, as it takes a bit of poking around to find it. You have to go into "Edit Town" mode, then you can build houses without moving peeps into them.

Does that include being able to place down empty lots in the town? If so then that's a relief.
