I was trying to install Halo 2 onto my computer when some message pops up saying that I dont have enough memory(RAM). It said that I had 896mb of ram and I needed 1000mb(or 1GB) but when I acquired my laptop it said that I have 1GB of RAM. so I check my System information just to be sure, and it said that I have 1GB of memory. So from what I can tell I have less RAM than what I thought I had(isnt that false advertising or something?). I want 1GB of memory and I don't think I should pay for it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hi, the reason you're only getting 896mb is because your GPU, ie your Graphics Card, is integrated and thus has a small segment of the Laptops RAM reserved for its use. The only way, that I am aware of, to fix it is to buy more, but RAM is cheap as chips these days, especially if your laptop is over a year old.

Ya, get more RAM. It costs pennies. Scan your PC with this website ( http://www.crucial.c...:20081213201317 ) .They will give you the options including prices.

Don't buy direct from Crucial though. You'll be able to get it even cheaper, most likely, if you use a site such as (presuming you are indeed in the US) Newegg.

William, it depends. Sometimes Crucial is cheaper and sometimes it is Newegg. I have purchased from both. But you are right, it never hurts to shop around.

Oh of course, Crucial might be cheaper sometimes, but I myself have always found they have a higher price then elsewhere.
