Hello there!
I'm currently Portal-izing my laptop, and I downloaded 2 .RAR files containing a slew of sound clips and voice clips from Portal, most of which are Turrets, and there is some Glados too.
Now, my question is this; Is there a way to set a specific sound to play, when for example, I put my laptop into sleep mode?
There's no option for "Sleep Mode" in the Sound thing (Control Panel > Sound > Sounds tab), and I've got a Turret voice clip, where the turret says "Sleep mode...activated", and I would love to somehow set the voice clip to play whenever I put my laptop into sleep mode, but play once.
Of course, there are some problems, for example, the laptop would have delay the actual activation of Sleep Mode to fully allow the "Sleep mode activated" voice clip to fully play out, otherwise, this idea would just be a waste of time.
I mean, you'd expect Microsoft to have left the ability to program in sounds for custom events. It shouldn't be that hard, what with a little Registry editing, maybe?
If you have any ideas, or solutions, please post them.
Inb4Learn2Google (I did, all I got was post after post about people complaining about losing sound after their computer came out of sleep mode).
Sorry for double posting, I forgot to ask something else.
The Windows Startup sound. How do I change it? Again, there's no option to change it in the Sounds panel.
Registry editing? I've got the perfect Portal sound to replace the lame Windows Startup Sound with.
