Tried different types of router. Computer running Vista Home Premium. Other computers can access the net. When I run ipconfig, the wireless card gets an IP address. Can Cisco Network Magic be the cause?
You may have hit on the problem.
I have never used Cisco Network Magic, but if the router is acquiring a network address, it almost certainly has to be a firewall issue of some type.
I would look at the Cisco Network Magic program, and either enable access for this computer within the firewall, or turn the firewall off all together.
The router has a hardware firewall already built in, so two are not really needed, and sometimes conflict with one another.
