We've all used Ubuntu, right? and we've all used Compiz, right? good. now let's focus on a plugin within compiz.

The awesome minimize effect: "Magic Lamp". Obviously, the name is a spin off of the Mac OS "Genie" effect. and it looks just like it, except, in fear of copyright problems the Magic Lamp effect waves. you can change the number of waves, but the minimal limit is 3.

With some simple Hex editing, we can fix this. and bring out the inner Mac of Ubuntu.

What you need:
Ghex
Compiz
Compiz Comfig Settings Manager

First: Disable Desktop Effects (System>Preferences>Appearance>Visual Effects: Select "None")
Second: Install Ghex (System>Administration>Synamptic Package Manager: Search for, and install, "ghex")
Third: Open the terminal and enter "sudo ghex2 /usr/lib/compiz/libanimation.so" -Without Quotes
Fourth: Now in Ghex, Click (Edit>Find) and search for "magic_lamp_max_waves"

Fifth: Find where it says "<min>3</min>" -=Mine says 0 because I already hacked it=- and change it to "<min>0</min>". Save
Sixth: Repeat Steps 3,4 and 5 with "sudo ghex2 /usr/lib/compiz/libanimation.a"
Seventh: Enter "sudo gedit /usr/share/compiz/animation.xml" to the terminal.
Eighth: Search for "magic_lamp_max_waves" and scroll down slowly until you find "<min>3</min>" Change it to <min>0</min>". Save.
Ninth: Re-Enable Compiz., then go to Compiz Config Settings Manager.
Tenth: Go to (Animations>Effect Settings>Magic Lamp) and set the amount of waves to "0".
Eleventh: In the same "Animations" Section, go to the tab "Minimize Animation", Select your current effect then select "Edit".
Twelve: Change the effect to "Magic Lamp" and change the Duration to "500" (longer or shorter to taste).
Thirteenth: Enjoy your Genie Minimize effect!
