Hello Forum,

I am experiencing some strange behaviour with my HP Laptop operating Windows Vista Home Premium (64bit).
When closing down my PC I normally put it into Sleep mode for the reason that Windows resumes much quicker
when starting another session.
Here is what is happening. I put into Sleep Mode and it stays in that state USUALLY. Lately the PC has
been turning itself on around 10pm every evening for no apparent reason and I have to go in and put it into Hibernate to
turn it off. What do you think might be happening ? It has a ghostlike nature to it. Any help <_<

Have you checked for any scheduled tasks?

Hello Pat,
Interesting idea from you. I went into Task Scheduler then to All Running Tasks. I came up with 5 tasks on this and, lo and behold, they are all scheduled to start around
10pm my problem time. They are (1) Hot Start (2) System Sound Service (3) Trans multi Monitor manager (4) User task and finally (5) System Task. I am not very technical and was
wondering if I should disable all or some since this option is available. I always tread carefully where I know little. What do you think ? :s

Could investigate each of them but maybe try the good old "suck it and see" approach. Try changing the start time of each of them one by one see what effect each has.
