Hi there,

I just have a quick question. I do have Office 2010 installed, yet I had to remove Office 2007 because I installed the x64 version, yet it would've been gone anyway. Now I absolutely need Visio 2007 as I have to test several plugins / addons for MS Visio that of course work only in 2007 maximum.

So I now think about re-installing MS Visio 2007 x32 (while having Visio 2010 installed!), do you think this will be possible without doing any harm to the Visio x64 installation? I just don't know why I had to uninstall it first place, but I hope it'll work out the other way 'round...

Thanks for your help in advance!

Kind regards.

You should have done a custom install of 2010, leaving out visio.

It has always been possible to install different versions of Office side by side and although I've not actually done this combination I'd expect it to run ok. Just do a custom install of Visio from Office 2007 selecting the components to be installed an also the location for the installation.

As Pat says it won't install "over" it will install without affecting the Office 2010 install. When you install you'll see that everything for Office 2007 is stored in files/folders labeled with it's version number such as "office12" and "12" and Office 2010 should be "Office13" and "13".

This has been the behavior of Office installs since at least 2003 (otherwise known as Office11).

You should be able to install Office 2010 and Office 2007 without them affecting each other except for file associations I don't recall which takes precedence when it comes to file association however you can simply tell Windows which you want to open with by default.
