I have recently upgraded from Server 2008 x86 to Server 2008 x64 and cannot get one of the 32 bit applications to run. I have succesfully registered all the OCX and dll files that we use normally but the program still refuses to run, all I get is an error message saying the program has stopped working. These are the problem details that are displayed in the message box.

Is the application in question compatible with 64 bit Server 2008? What OS was the app designed for? Most 32 bit software will run on a 64 bit OS, but not all. Check with the manufacturer of the app to see if it compatible and if there are any known issues and solutions. The app may run in compatibility mode, failing that it should run on a virtual machine.

The application is pre 64bit so I'm beginning to think that this may be the problem. I have tried in compatabilty mode but nothing works.

Have a look on the software author's website and see what info is available there on 32/64 bit running.
