Pretty much every time I log on to Windows 7 the theme is Classic White and a pop-up appears saying "Failed to connect to the System Event Notification Service".
I have checked the service, which lists its Startup Type as 'Automatic'.
I have checked all of the system's drivers and they are all up-to-date and functioning.
I have booted in Safe Mode and there are no issues.
Occassionally if I make a change to the system, after restarting it will log on fine. For example, I reinstalled Firefox the other day and, after restarting, the system was fine.
But, as I write this, the system has failed to connect again.
I suffered from the same issue in Vista but not this frequently. To me it suggests driver issues but as mentioned all are up-to-date and functioning.
Has anybody else suffered from this? Does anyone have a solution?
