okay, theres probably a simple answer for this, but.... i recrently bought a new HDTV that came with a pc connection, so i decided to buy a VGA to VGA cable to use my television as a monitor... but the cable will not work!!! I looked in the booklet that came with the television, and it said i have to change the resolution of the computer (a list of possible sets, actually) then turn them both off and start the television first then the computer.... but this has not worked either!!! im completely lost... is there some sorta driver or something i have to download, or am i missing an important step!!

if it helps, im running a windows vista 32 bit...

If you told us the make and model of the TV it would make it easier.

yes its on pc on the television... its a Sanyo 42" HDTV LCD 1080i.... it says the model number on the owners manual at the bottom is DP42849... Part Number 1JC6P1P0331... On the first page, even before the table of contents it has a PC Resolution Chart... I'm trying to set it up with the 1024X768 resolution with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio, 85 Hz refresh rate... it also says something about horizontal and vertical frequencies... (68.68kHz horizontal, and 85.00hZ), but i don't know how to set those on the computer, could that be the problem??? my full computer system specs are...

Windows Edition: Windows Vista Home Premium
Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard Company
Model: a6113w
Rating: 3.3
Processor: Genuine Intel® CPU 2140 @ 1.60GHz
Memory (RAM): 2038 MB
System type: 32-bit Operating System

When you connect the TV to the PC, you should get a window that lets you set it up easily. Try making sure all your drivers are up-to-date and the monitor is properly detected (look here).
